Planting
All crops are drilled for a target market with target growing densities ranging from 50 to 100 plants per m2
Crops usually follow poppies, with grass, potatoes, peas and cereals typically also in the rotation
Crops are grown on a minimum 5 year rotation, most growers have at least 8 years between crops
Drilling of "early" cream gold crops takes place in May
"Regular" cream gold type crops commences in Mid July and completes mid September
Red onions are drilled in July and August
Hybrid types are drilled in September
Growers prepare paddocks for drilling under the FFT staff instruction
FFT carry out all the drilling mostly using 3 bed wide precision drills on a 1.83m wheel track
